MICHELLE BEHR
KELLY TILLMAN

In maintaining our philosophy that counselling services should be accessible to people from all walks of life, The Shanti Counselling Centre is pleased to provide counseling by graduate interns. Our interns are in their last year of their Masters programs and work for a fee of $25/session.

The Shanti Centre welcomes Michelle Behr as a graduate intern. Michelle is currently completing her Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology with an intention to pursue Doctoral studies next. Michelle has a background in relationship issues, with an additional focus on sex and sexuality. She has worked with women in abusive relationships, designed a healthy dating seminar for singles, collaborated on various research projects, and is currently in the process of developing psycho-educational groups for The Shanti Counselling Centre. Michelle has had professional training in the Gottman couples counselling technique.

Michelle views individuals as in search of meaning. In this regard, Michelle tries to work alongside clients to find inspiration and joy in one’s every day life. She understands that every person’s journey is unique and has no need to impart her vision onto another. She hopes that clients will develop a sense of direction that they can truly own. Michelle takes a creative stance to problem solving and is willing to work with each client to come to the best solution. She views the client as his or her own expert and tries to draw out the strength and resiliency she believes resides in us all.
